Interactive Google Themes and 3:14

Google’s changed they’re stripped down ways a bit and provided six personalized homepage themes. A few of the themes (maybe all—I only toyed with a few) update themselves based on personalization data provided as a part of your profile or based on the current season. From a design perspective, the themes are reminiscent of a the illustrative work you’d catch on a greeting card; creative but unassuming.

Final note: 3:14 am seems to be the magic time for Google Themes. Code explorer Tony Ruscoe has documented some fun XML configuration files that trigger Easter Egg effects at that magic time. If you don’t want to stay up all night to see the Easter Eggs, visit Tony’s site–he’s provided screenshots of what he has found.
